The Temple of Refuge Church of the Lord Jesus of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. “Evangelistic Pentecostal Churches”

June 1996:     In the aftermath of the Great Flood of 1994, Apostle D. G. Taylor, Sr. (who was then Elder D. G. Taylor, Sr.) moved in the faith of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by the direction of the Holy Ghost to be called out of a ministry that he had known most of his life to established The Temple of Refuge Church of the Lord Jesus of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.  Elder Taylor gave all to provide for the House of God and the people of God.

Elder Taylor walked out on faith with the support of Co-founder/First Lady V. W. Taylor, his natural children and 14 church families.  This newly formed Body of Christ found “Refuge” in a storefront building located on West Gordon.  Much work was done within one week to ensure that the saints would have a place to worship on Sunday morning.  The men of God labored together and built the pulpit, made repairs and structural changes while First Lady Taylor and the women cleaned, hung window coverings and beautified the house of God.  It was late Saturday night, everything was in place, and the saints anticipated a great move of God in a few hours.  Sunday morning and the saints came in expecting a mighty move of God and to their dismay, some had changed their minds and turned back. Knowing that God was going to do a might work and a quick work, Elder Taylor spoke prophetically that within one year God would provide and a permanent home on their own land would be purchased.

June 1997:     God did it!!  No more renting.  Elder Taylor moved by faith, God opened doors for the purchase of the edifice and property at 2711 Phillips Drive. The Lord instructed the Man of God, Apostle D. G. Taylor, Sr. to go on two extremely significant fasts as pertaining to the “Body of Christ.”  First a fourteen day fast where the Lord dealt with him concerning the tabernacle, the Revelation of Moses, the burning bush and the call that is upon his life.  It was out of this consecration that God spoke to the man of God and revealed the called to be an Apostle and Prophet to the nations.  Like Jacob, the wrestling began.  He wrestled with the angel until he heard the voice call unto him to consecrate himself to more fasting and prayer.  This call brought him to forty days and nights of fasting and prayer.

His flesh being weakened and torn around the twentieth day of the fast, Apostle Taylor heard from the Lord as Moses did, “see that you build all things according to the pattern.”  At that point, a pivotal move began; the church was named, brought forth and birth in his loins.  The promise of a people was given and a seed was counted as a generation.  There were many dreams concerning the nations of the universe, and things that would come upon the face of the earth, much devastation and destruction did this man of God see.  During the days of the early prophecy there was much scoffing and criticism, but he maintained his faith and not one word fell to the ground.  Within these forty days of consecration, he also saw the pattern coming out of God which gave an understanding of the Apostolic Doctrine that he had embraced as a child.  He journeyed into the mind of God and the Lord spoke to him giving this promise, “For the years, that you’ve sought after my heart, I reveal unto you the hidden treasures and secrets of my mind.”  That is when the book was promised and God declared that Apostle Taylor would eat the book.  The Angel of the Lord spoke to him saying, “Not many days now and ye shall eat the book that ye hold in your right hand.”  In this, Revelation of Holy Divine Order was given and Apostle Taylor was commanded teach the people of God from Moses into Apostolic Faith, through the promise and the revelation of ‘Kingdom Living.’ This was the point of the Full Body Ministry being revealed as the Ministry of Jesus Christ.

From there the end-time (which was the end of the fast), the Lord showed him terrible days, days of great trouble, calamities, days that were never known unto men.  God revealed to him in a vision; men running to Refuge for safety.  They would run until they made it to the door of the church where the Apostle was the keeper of the door (Psalm 84:10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of the wickedness.). When the Apostle saw himself opening the door, they would run in and would find rest.  As Revelation 3:7declares – And the angel of the chruch in Philadelphia write: These things saith he that is holy; “he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth and no man openeth.  In that the name of the church came forth “The Temple of Refuge Church of the Lord Jesus of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.”

Temple – because he said, “know ye that your bodies are the temple of the most high God” and the body of Christ would be housed through full body ministry (Lasting).

Refuge – that this body and seed that had been accounted for as a generation would not be destroyed, but were hid in the full body of Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Evangelists and Teachers.  (Ephesians 4:4-6;  But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.   To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.   And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying Abba Father.    Ephesians 4:10-14   Ye observe days, and months and times and years,  I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.  Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.   Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.   And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected: but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.)

Church – because He did not build a center; but he said, “Upon this rock I build my church.” (Matthew 16:18    - And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.)

Of the Lord – because his church had to have a founding ‘King’ who has Lordship (Authority).

Jesus – because he declared, “I have placed my name upon you, and none can deliver you out of my hand.”  (Numbers 6:27 – And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel and I will bless them.)

Of the Apostolic Faith – Though you are founded upon the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ being the Chief Cornerstone declaring that he descended.  (Ephesians 4:9-10    -  Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first unto the lower parts of the earth.  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things).  In His descending, he ascended far above all principalities and powers.  It was there that the Apostle went with the Lord down into the bedrock of the foundation of the earth, coming up with the keys of death, hell and the grave.  Seeing this, that we have passed from the doctrine alone into His faith and anointing, power and deliverance.

After seeing the chaos of men running, the Lord spoke yet again saying, “prepare the people.  The Lord gave understanding to our pastor, Apostle D. G. Taylor, Sr.  that there would be a need for an end-time place of Refuge.  Apostle Taylor, Elder Michael Cochran and Co-founder/Shepherd Mother Taylor searched for a land.  A land of refuge.

December 1997:       In search of a land of refuge for the saints of God for the coming days in the end-time, the Lord spoke to Apostle Taylor saying, “There is a man of God, a Prophet that has already accomplished this task.”  Apostle Taylor went in search of this man of God; that is when Mother Emma Carroll, who at that time was the Church Mother, unveiled her knowledge concerning Prophet S. D. James.  She took the man of God over to meet him in an International Winter Campmeeting.  It was then and there that his eyes beheld; after 22 years, his childhood Prophet, the man of God that had spoken into his heart and life all the things concerning himself.

Upon entering into the Prophet’s Chambers “Chief Apostle S. D. James”, he knew who the man of God was and again he spoke into his life the deep sentiments of his heart.  It was then that the journey began as the Lord had promised him that he would eat the book.  The Prophet spoke with a loud voice sounding like a trumpet saying, “Glory to God!” called for his staff members and asked them, “What do you see?”  He then said, “Not long now Son, not long now.  Ye shall eat the book.”  Tears rolled out of his eyes and down his face.  It was then that Apostle Taylor knew that his search was over, he was home.

January 1998:     “Holy Ghost Deliverance Shake Down” God has brought a shaking to The Temple of Refuge.  The move of God was powerful; the saints were equipped for Preparation Ministry for Kingdom Living.  As the spiritual house was being built, the natural house was being completed.  Apostle Taylor, Shepherd Mother Taylor and the saints of God were putting up sheet rock, dropping the ceiling, painting walls while fellowshipping with one another. Some worked on the walls and floors; others were preparing the paperwork for the opening of Little People Village Learning Center, one of the outreaches of Taylor’s Refuge Village, Inc a subsidiary of The Temple of Refuge, EPC.

March 1998:      Sunday, March 15, 1998; place The Temple of Refuge Church of the Lord Jesus of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. Apostle D. G. Taylor, Sr. is consecrated to the Bishopric.

December 1998:       Eating of the ‘Book’ during International Winter Campmeeting of the S. D. James Evangelistic Association.

The angel of the Lord knocked bringing him into the counsel of the Prophets in Jerusalem Temple of the Bride.  Prior to the knock, according to the scripture, Apostle Taylor’s head was shaven by the sharp barber razor.  As it is written in Ezekiel 5:1-4     AND THOU, son of man, take thee a sharp knife, take thee a barber’s razor, and cause it to pass upon thine head and upon thy beard; then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair.  Thou shalt burn with fire the third part in the midst of the city, when the days of siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, and smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them.    Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts.     Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire and burn them in the fire; for thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.

As the time neared for the eating of the book; the angel of the Lord came to Apostle Taylor’s door leading him to the Temple of the Bride.  The sheet was laid upon the floor of the altar.  The ‘Sons of the Prophet’ were gathered and the Prophet himself sat at the head, Sis. Jackie Eady sat quietly to record the move of God.  The ‘book’ was opened, just as it was promised in Ezekiel 3:1-3   MOREOVER HE said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.    So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.    And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee.  Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

Revelation 10:8-11 reads, And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.   And I went unto the angel and said unto him, Give me the little book.  And he said unto me, take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.   And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.   And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Under the tutorship of Prophet S. D. James, he has gone into many nations declaring and prophesying the Testimony of Jesus Christ through the Full Body Ministry.  He has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Jerusalem, Germany as well as the Islands of the Sea (Freeport Grand Bahamas, Nassau Bahamas, St. Kitts, Barbados, Esquibo, Trinidad, St. Maarten, St. Criox, London, England, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.

January 2, 1999:     The ordination into the Apostleship, the saints were robed in white kneeling at the altar.  The oil of His anointing flowed as spake about in Psalm 133: 1-3    BEHOLD HOW good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!    It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard:  that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

The Man of God was brought to the Apostleship and Priest of the Lord of the Royal Priesthood as a watchman.  Ezekiel 3:17 reads, “Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.”

At last Apostle Taylor found his father.  Not only is The Temple of Refuge a part of the Royal Priesthood of Jesus Christ but we are now a part of the Royal Family of The S. D. James Evangelistic Association and its Evangelistic Pentecostal Churches Worldwide.

January 2002:     The walls are up furniture is in place Little People’s Village is officially open.  We began with one child enrolled and watched God multiply.

Summer 2003:    The Summer Enrichment Program another venture of Taylor’s Refuge Village is opened to the middle and low income families in Dougherty County at no cost to the parents.

Fall 2005:     The Lord touched Shepherd Mother Taylor to bring into fruition T.E.E.N.S. a program designed to meet the childcare needs for adolescent and teen mothers as they completed their education.  These young mothers were also offered other services such as tutorial, parenting classes and family counseling.
